Again the rare Persian leopards have reproduced themselves in our zoo. The two parents, Cezi and Nadir arrived to Budapest in 2003, so far they had six offsprings but in the recent years there was no successful reproduction. Until now! Dante, the youngest cub is turning two months old in these days. He introduced himself to the press on Wednesday morning, and from Thursday the public can also visit the newborn.
Rare sensation! Asiatic lion quadruplets were born at the Budapest Zoo on February 15th. The four cute lion cubs are likely to become our visitors’ favourite. The unprecedented event has a special importance as it is the first time this extremely rare wild cat has ever reproduced in Hungary.
ASHA, born on 14th February, Valentine's Day caused initial concern to zoo fans, animal care staff and veterinarians due to feeding difficulties. Luckily things have improved and the baby elephant can make its public debut. Asha's well being is top priority for the zoo so there will be some precautions for visitors. The baby trunker was given the name Asha, which means Hope in Sanskrit language.
