Thanks to the joint efforts of many of our colleagues and international experts, last year we published an educational booklet about the Western Crowned Pigeon and the pigeon family.
In addition to the striking appearance of Western Crowned Pigeons, their daily habits are also fascinating. The publication offers a broader look at the entire pigeon family, giving readers a comprehensive overview of this diverse group of birds. To help more people learn about this rare species, our colleagues and international experts created a detailed educational booklet last year that offers interesting content for all age groups.
The success of this booklet is shown by the fact that it was highlighted in the 2024 Annual Report of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria. This recognition means a lot to us, as it shows that the publication has real value for both nature conservation and education.
Through its pages, you can explore the history and present of crowned pigeons, their natural habitat, their behavior, and the threats they face today. You can also gain general knowledge about pigeons: for example, how they raise their chicks, their special physical features, why they are important for ecosystems, and whether urban pigeons really pose a health risk to people.
