Throughout the year we have a range of special activities for visitors.
As every year, our “Be There!” public programmes await visitors from spring to autumn at the Budapest Zoo.
On 28 August, Night at the Zoo 2026 will be held for the fifteenth time, with 13 member zoos of the Hungarian Association of Zoos and Aquariums (MÁASZ) joining this year’s event with special evening programmes.
Hits from past eras will once again be performed by Budapest Bár at 8 pm on 9 August 2026, as part of the birthday party celebrating the Zoo’s 160th anniversary.
During the two-day event, visitors can not only meet the animals but also discover the institution’s rich history, natural values and behind-the-scenes world.
During the spring break, we’re welcoming families to the Zoo with fun, playful activities! Crafts, an egg hunt, special games, and a photo with a costumed Easter Bunny will make your visit even more memorable.
Be part of a special interactive exhibition experience for all ages and immerse yourself in the world of play and creation in the lower level of the Biodome! Discover miniature worlds built from LEGO® elements and experience the joy of building yourself with thousands of colorful bricks.
The 160-year history of the Budapest Zoo comes to life through archival photographs. The images of this anniversary photo exhibition are placed throughout the Zoo, recalling iconic locations and moments from the past.
Magical Hungary is a prestigious, year-long nature photography competition, and an exhibition of its award-winning images at Magic Mountain presents the rich wildlife and natural beauty of Hungary’s national parks.
During the event, visitors can enjoy demonstration feedings, scavenger hunt-style games, educational and craft activities, all designed with age-appropriate tasks and surprises.
With our “Together is Beautiful” promotion, from February 13–15, two people can visit the Zoo for the price of one ticket. On February 14, special programs are also available.
The Budapest Zoo’s 160-year history is presented through rare, archival posters, brought to life with modern technology to showcase our visual heritage.
In winter, opportunities for physical activity are more limited, even though it feels good to release built-up energy.
Animals like you’ve never seen them before (colors, lights, magic). The World of Animals Chinese Lantern Festival is a special event taking place from October 17, 2025, to February 22, 2026, honoring thousands of years of Chinese traditions.
The World Press Photo exhibition showcases a carefully curated selection of the world’s best and most significant press and documentary photographs.
All featured works are chosen by an independent jury, ensuring that visitors can see powerful and thought-provoking visual stories from around the globe.
