Throughout the year we have a range of special activities for visitors.
As every year, our “Be There!” public programmes await visitors from spring to autumn at the Budapest Zoo.
Following the huge success of the event in March, the unique Lightdome 2 exhibition will once again fill the subterranean spaces of the Budapest Zoo’s Biodome with stunning works by several Hungarian and international artists between 6 November and 8 December 2024.
In 2024, the “Be there!” experience programs at the Budapest Zoo will once again offer unforgettable experiences to visitors. Our “Be there!” public programs—as every year—will welcome visitors at the Budapest Zoo until November 1st.
The exhibition features the best documentary and press photos of the past year from all over the world. Within the framework of the 67th World Press Photo Contest, the presented and award-winning images were selected by a 31-member international expert jury from 61,062 entries by 3,581 photographers from 130 countries.
For more than a decade, it has been a tradition for Hungary’s zoos, wildlife parks, and animal exhibition sites to offer special evening programs for the public at the end of August, on the last Friday night of summer. This is Zoo at Night.
Our prestigious Zoo will celebrate its 158th birthday in exactly four weeks, on Friday, August 9th. Of course, we are preparing programs for this special occasion.
May 10–12, the gates to chimney cake heaven will open once again as we celebrate the 4th Kürtőskalács Festival.
From mid-March to the third weekend of April, for five consecutive weeks, we invite the public to enjoy the atmospheric Spring Lantern Magic in the eastern part of the Zoo.
The Biodome will host a unique light art event from March 1 to 17. This will be the first time the interior spaces of the Biodome will be open to the public.
