Zoo news
Be well informed about life at the zoo!
In addition to showcasing a variety of exotic wildlife, our Zoo also offers visitors the chance to encounter horses. Beyond simply presenting them, we take pride in our deep equestrian traditions, with notable achievements in enhancing the bond between humans and horses, as well as in conserving a Carpathian horse breed.

The Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden covers 11 hectares and includes a number of animal houses and pens. To find what you’re looking for easily, use the zoo map. You can easily zoom in and navigate through the digital interface, or download it so you always have it with you.

The most popular way to support the Zoo is through the symbolic adoption of animals. Organized by the Zoo Foundation, thousands of people become honorary foster parents each year.

The Hungarian Bird Rescue Foundation was established by the Budapest Zoo in 2009. Every year, we save thousands of wild birds, small mammals, and reptiles from certain death. Hedgehogs burned in brush fires, birds fallen from nests, animals hit by cars or poisoned—all can count on us. More information about the rescue centre.
Ready for the future!
The Pannon Park is the largest of the new developments at the Zoo. The almost 5-hectare show complex will be built entirely on land taken over from the redundant Amusement Park. The Pannon Park will be themed to evoke the world of the former Pannonian wilderness, with a unique visitor experience, cutting-edge zoo exhibit technology, innovative and forward-thinking architecture and technology.
