World Press Photo began in 1955 when a group of Dutch photographers launched a photo competition under this name to showcase their work to the world. Since then, World Press Photo has expanded its mission significantly, and it has grown into one of the most prestigious photography competitions in the world, awarding the best in documentary and press photography.
An exhibition of the best images travels around the globe. This summer, the exhibition has already been displayed in Mexico City (Mexico), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Portimão (Portugal), and Jakarta (Indonesia). In the fall, the exhibition will visit Bellinzona (Switzerland), Montreal (Canada), Eindhoven (Netherlands), Tirana (Albania), Tegucigalpa (Honduras), Vienna (Austria), São Paulo (Brazil), Hamburg (Germany), Toronto (Canada), Copenhagen (Denmark), Lodi (Italy), Dortmund (Germany), Middelburg (Netherlands), Kraków (Poland), Chicoutimi (Canada), Flensburg (Germany), Vitoria-Gasteiz (Spain), Yogyakarta (Indonesia), Barcelona (Spain), Hilversum (Netherlands), and Prangins (Switzerland). And of course, it will also be on display here in Budapest, from September 20 to October 27.
